We're selling off all sorts of belongings to help finance this project. Most of them will be offered on sites such as Ebay and Half.com, but there are a few that, for one reason or another, we want to offer directly and personally.
The first of these is this original watercolor. This was painted specifically for me by watercolor artist Linda Atwood-Gates as a thank-you for some work I had done for her. I guess you could call it a commissioned work because I told her the subject matter and theme I wanted for the painting. She was an accomplished watercolorist, specializing in bird life, but at the time had never tried to do ravens before. I've always thought she did a spectacular job.
I long ago lost touch with Linda and don't know if she ever achieved a following, but I do know her work is both beautiful and unique. The prismatic effect you see is a hallmark technique of hers - and I think quite beautiful. The painting itself measure 13 inches by 21 inches, and framed it is 21 inches by 29 inches. The frame is brass toned and I had a brass plaque made for it that includes the passage from 1 Kings about Elijah in the wilderness. It is triple matted and enclosed behind anti-glare glass.

The colors are as accurate as I could get them, but show up here yellower and paler than they actually are. Here's a closeup of the ravens with Elijah in the background:

Finally, a closeup of the plaque and the artist's signature:

I hope to realize at least $300 for this one of a kind original work, and am also hoping that someone who appreciates art will be able to make a generous offer, as funds raised here are going to help make it possible for us to stay afloat as I walk across America. If you are interested, please contact me at 619 390-8422 or at radicalgeezer@gmail.com. If you live near San Diego I would be glad to deliver it personally. If not, we'll have to make shipping arrangements. Watch our Walking Sale for more items as I find the time to photograph and post them.
Peace,
Bill
Jonna and I have several boaters and this is the best of them. It is in outstanding condition. It is very white and clean. It's a Stetson Select and has a label from "Coffee's California" on the inside sweatband. It's a size 7 1/8 and comes with the hat box. We'd like to get $50 for it.

warned you this was going to be an eclectic mix. Here's an inflatable shampoo basin. If you have someone bedfast at home this is an excellent way to wash their hair for them. There is a pillow section for neck support and a drain tube. Inflated dimensions are 24" wide by 19" by 8" deep. Again, excellent condition and open for an offer.

Now we come to some really difficult items to describe or even show. First is an obelisk. It is 8 inches high and made of lead crystal. It has three sides and into the three edges a design has been etched that at first glance seems pretty random. But when you look into any of the three flat sides of the obelisk, you will see the etching on the opposite edge refracted - and the etching forms one of three religious icons. It is a fascinating and beautiful piece and, again, would make a great gift for your favorite clergy person. There is no way for photos to do it justice...never mind the fact that it's very difficult to take them! But here they are, looking through each of the flat faces:

We're asking $100 for this piece.
Speaking of really bizarre stuff - here's one of my wife's cherished items (I have no idea why). It's a muff made of actual monkey fur. It was made in the 1800s. It is - obviously - coming unglued in many places but is still all there. A furrier could certainly restore it. Jonna says make an offer.

Books - we have more than a ton of them - literally - but we've saved a few out for our Walking Sale. Here are two of the L. Frank Baum Oz books - The Purple Prince of Oz and Kabumpo in Oz. Both are dated 1922 and are in fair condition. The Purple Prince has a bit of child's scrawling on a few pages, Kabumpo does not. Beyond the Oz factor, each book has a number of beautiful full colors prints inside that are framable art all by themselves. Are you an Oz fan? Well then, what are you waiting for - make an offer!

Now a really nice framed piece. The frame is white porcelain and either stands or hangs. It is 12" by 9 1/2" and not glassed. The saying is "Be gentle when you touch bread lest it seem daily, lest it seem commonplace. Sun and rain have caressed it, honest toil has threshed it, Jesus often blessed it. Be gentle when you touch bread - Scottish Blessing" It is a signed lithograph that has been again signed personally in pencil by the artist - Crystal Coates Aften. A warm, graceful piece for a kitchen or dining room. Make an offer.

Another book - Freeport's Lincoln. Copyright is 1930 and the subtitle is "Exercises Attendant Upon the Unveiling of a Statue of Abraham Lincoln; Freeport, Illinois, August 27, 1929, the Seventy-First Anniversary of the Freeport Lincoln-Douglas Debate." The book contains a number of black and white pictures and is in good condition. It appears to be a private printing, "Published by W. T. Rawleigh, Freeport, Ill." who also happens to be the person who presented the statue of Lincoln to the people of Freeport. We have no idea if it is a valuable piece of Lincoln memorabilia, but will accept offers.

Next is a pink depression glass vase standing 9 1/2" tall. Etched with a leaf and flower design. No chips or scratches. Quite a delicate vase and again, the photo doesn't do it justice. Make an offer.
